When she was 19 She released Here, her first single. This single received a lot of acclaim and was well received both by critics and listeners. In the Canadian Hot 100, and Billboard Hot 100, ranked it at 19. Even Rolling Stone called the track one of the Top Songs in 2015. This same year, she released Know It All. Scars to Your Beautiful is one of the five songs she wrote that made it to the Billboard charts. It was different because many people related to her interview in collaboration with Rap-Up regarding her struggles to learn to love and be herself. Cara is famous for including the themes of mental health and love and self-love into her songs. Everything stems from her personal experience as she been battling mental health issues and insomnia. In an interview with Reuters she declared her album to be "half turbulent" and "half perfect". The singer says that she experienced growth in therapy. Alessia Cara grew up in Toronto, Canada. She was born on July 11, 1996, to parents with Italian descent. She was given a guitar by her parents when she turned 10 which ignited her musical passion. In 2013, she covered the songs she loved for YouTube, a popular platform for media. The goal was to prove that she had both the capability and the self-confidence to become an artist. One of her covers, Sweater Weather, was the one that got her attention. EP Entertainment gave her the opportunity to create and compose her own music.
