At 19 years old at the time, she dropped Here, her first single. The single was a success and was praised by the public and from critics. The Canadian Hot 100, and Billboard Hot 100, ranked the single at 19. Even Rolling Stone ranked the song among the 2015's most memorable Songs. The is the same year that she dropped Know It All. Scars to Your Beautiful is one of five songs she wrote that made it to the Billboard charts. It was a special track because, based on her interview with Rap-Up that she conducted, many of her listeners were able to identify with her journey of learning to love themselves and rethinking their beliefs about her. Cara's music is known to contain messages of love, self-love and mental health. Her music is an expression of her own personal struggles in dealing with anxiety and depression. In a Reuters interview, she has described her album as half-tumultuous but half perfected. Therapy helped her grow and urges people to try it too. Alessia Cara, a Canadian musician was born in Canada on the 11th of July 1996 to Italian descent parents. Her parents gave her an instrument when she was 10 and this led to her passion for music. In the age of thirteen, she began singing songs she adored on YouTube to demonstrate to people that she was talented and brave enough to pursue a career as an artist. One of her covers, Sweater Weather, was the one that got her attention. EP Entertainment gave her the chance to write and record her own tracks.
