Julia Fiona Roberts was born in Atlanta on the 28th of October, 1967 to Betty Lou Bredemus and Walter Grady Roberts. Her grandfather, her great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts, a farmer who was also one of the first Roberts to arrive in Atlanta. Her father had the first interest to theatre. When he was in school in Emory University in 1952 he acted in productions on campus and in Atlanta. In 1953, he joined the Air Force. While stationed at Biloxi in Mississippi acted in a production together with Betty Lou Bredemus. They got married in 2005, and had their first child, Eric Anthony in 1956. In 1957, the couple quit the military and Walter was enrolled in Tulane University in New Orleans Louisiana. Walter worked with Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio. In 1960, the couple relocated into Decatur Georgia. Walter along with Betty Lou began producing a television show for children in Decatur, Georgia called Bum Bum and His Buddies. They financed the production by themselves. The Actors and Writers Workshop was created in the year 1964 and ran for six years. During this time they also had two kids Lelisa (called Lisa) Billingsley in the year 1965, and Julia (called Julie) in 1967.
